How to Edit a Message

Basic Operations​

  • Mobile: Long press the message you want to edit, select "Edit" from the popup menu
  • Desktop: Right-click the message, select "Edit" option
  • After modifying content in the input box, click send to complete editing

Editing Limitations​

  1. Time Limits

    • Regular messages can be edited within 48 hours after sending
    • "My Storage" and "Marked Messages" have no time limit

  2. Content Limitations

    • Text messages cannot be edited into images, videos, or file messages
    • Image and file messages can:
      • Edit/replace text descriptions
      • Update file content

  3. Group Limitations

    • Group owners can disable message editing permissions as needed (e.g., in groups involving financial data, owners often choose to disable this to maintain data integrity)

Tip

After editing a message, other users can see an edited mark, maintaining chat transparency.

On desktop, you can hover over this edited mark to view the message's edit time.
